![]() ![]() Sometimes the underdog actually has the technological edge, instead of the major power. But it probably deserves to be in the top something. In any case, I don't think anybody at the time thought they would win, so it is clearly an underdog victory. Maybe the Spanish in South America would come close to that. I don't think there was succh a big disparity before that war technologically between 2 powers. ![]() What is unique is the technical disparity between the two forces, and the massive use of bombings and chemical weapons, because of the air superiority. But most accounts do not find that to be the determining factor of the war. Like the fact that most fuel in WW2 came from the US is considered important, and was crucial for the British and the Russians. But usually, this is not given as a major explanation for the victory. The American Independance is a good example of that. Quite true, put in this way, it is not unique. There was nothing unique in a third world country using home grown soldiers armed with foriegn weaponry supplied by a competing world power to defeat a foreign occupying force.
